BTB, Mike, do you still have Ya'qub's pic that I used as an avatar? Thanks! I believe I have a copy somewhere... I'll try and find it. I still haven't setup my web folders to host any files yet, I'll try to get it down next week.

The feast is drawing to a close. Keesha is tired from her wounds and poisoning and will be retiring to bed. I need to know how you'all plan to spend you night. Specifically, who if anyone is going to the midnight meeting at the Ministry of Secrets- which happens to be only a few blocks away. I skipped the journey from the inn near the docks to Batul's home, but it is located far from the docks, on the other side of the city near the jungles edge.

Was Ya'qub aware of the meeting? I don't recall.
If he is and if Waleed is willing, he will accompany Waleed.
If not, he will graciously accept the offer of a place to stay in this magnificent home!

Hey.. ahem. How's it goin? ahem. I've been smacked down by my own tendency to overcommit. The load was barely balanced with family/work/school/army, then I switched from the army NG to army pre-OCS. The training is harsh and designed to weed out the unfit mentally and physically. Something about there being a war on and all, some sort of standards for who can lead men into combat. A few weeks ago, the interview(interrogation!) to get accepted left me a bit shaken. Something about being vetted by a Lt. Colonel, two Majors and a Command Sargeant Major... the latter looking the whole time at me like he'd seen better droppings in his morning constitutional. Then the first training weekend (last friday) was the equivalent of the newbie getting off the bus at bootcamp. Again! That was the third time for me. The memories are hazy from the lack sleep but somewhere late at night we were marching around the drill pad carrying a telephone pole over our heads. We had double fireguards posted that night with a senior candidate (upper classman) because someone from the previous pre-OCS took off running as soon at the lights went out. "Didn't even bother to put on his shoes, left all his gear." Too funny. I'm doing better now- we'll be going to Hawaii from 30 Nov - 4 Dec. Lots to look forward to- long runs in sand... lugging a 100 pound artillery round (the class mascot, Arty!) up some insane mountain trail... Frequent reminders of our unfitness to draw further breath and invitations to quit... So what does all that have to do with 1001 Adventures? Just a weak excuse for not having the time and creative energy to give a 1001% to the story. I tend to spend 1 to 3 hours on a simple post as I compulsively cross reference everything and try to keep the timeline straight. I still want to continue, I've not lost interest in the least, it will just be hit and miss for a while. It should get better after the holidays because I'm not going to register for any more Master's classes for a while.

Well good for you Mike, I always knew you were a lifer Thanks, I'm hoping its a long lifer. Filled with more service projects at natural disasters than foreign wars. Either way, I don't forsee serving more than the required minimums. I've come to realize that I'm more of the "jack-of-all-trades" type- probably has something to do with a short attention span. That and wanting to be a writer with something interesting enough to say that people would read it. I just learned that one of my childhood heroes had gone through OCS at my age. www.louislamour.com/aboutlouis/biography4.htmLets revist our game after the holidays- see if anyone is still interested. I won't be taking any classes then and things should settle into something more condusive to posting. ~michael
